# Upload

> Upload a skill.md or .zip package

**Upload skill** publishes a skill from a file. The wizard has five steps: **Upload skills**, **Skill basic info**, **Review skills**, **Skill access**, and **Summary**.

## 1. Upload skills

Drag and drop or click to upload a **skill.md** or **.zip** package.

The file **frontmatter** must include **name** and **description**.

Click **Next** after a valid file is uploaded.

## Later steps

2. **Skill basic info** — Confirm or edit the name and other details from the package.
3. **Review skills** — Check the uploaded content before you continue.
4. **Skill access** — Grant users or the whole workspace, the same way as when you [create](/skills/create#3-access) a skill.
5. **Summary** — Confirm and finish.

After upload, assign the skill to an [assistant](/guides/assistants) or [agent](/guides/agents).
